Obituary for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Devereaux Elizabeth Ann Devereaux, 84, died Friday, September 14, 2018 at The Laurels of GreenTree Ridge in Asheville after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Originally from Lockport, New York, Elizabeth was a graduate of Sisters of Charity Nursing School in Buffalo, NY and practiced nursing in four states. She loved to travel, and was equally excited about a simple camping trip to the Smokies as to a visit to one of the dozens of exotic sites she experienced around the world while living overseas for a number of years. She spent many years tutoring young children in the Buncombe County School system and cared for them as if they were her own. Her family and friends were always her first love and her warm and beautiful smile endeared her to everyone she ever met. Those who knew her will understand the loss of this special lady. She is survived by her adoring husband of 62 years, Robert L. of Arden, NC; five children, Matthew J. Devereaux (Meredith) of Knoxville, TN, Donna M. Devereaux of Charlotte, NC, Richard T. Devereaux (Elizabeth) of Asheville, NC, Robert F. Devereaux (Kitty) of Pembroke, VA, Mark D. Devereaux (Amy) of Mocksville, NC; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St Eugene’s Catholic Church, followed by inurnment in the columbarium.
