Obituary for Mr. Arling Hazlett Arling (Art) C. Hazlett of Arden, NC, passed away on June 5, 2018. Son of the late Roy and Kate (McAllister) Hazlett, he was born on July 21, 1928 in Whitesville, NY. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Wilma (Jane) Crittenden Hazlett in 2016; and his brother Irving Hazlett; and sisters: Anna Tracy and Ruth Wildman. Art graduated from Whitesville Central School, Alfred University (BS) and Pennsylvania State University (MS). After working for the University of Maine (Orono), he rose from a produce buyer to President of the former P&C Food Markets, headquartered in Syracuse, New York. He retired from business as President of the Southern Division of Seneca Foods in Mountain Home, NC. Art had five children: James A. Hazlett (Coupeville, WA), Walter I. Hazlett (Ashburn, VA), Susan G. Hazlett (Arden, NC), Douglas B. Hazlett (Covington, KY) and William L. Hazlett (Phoenix, AZ). He had 10 grandchildren and step grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. An avid golfer, Art frequently hiked and was a member of Rosscraggon Wood. Services will be private. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Rosscraggon Wood, care of Susan Hazlett, 201 Laurel Road, Arden, NC 28704.
