Wilburn G. Wheeler, 85, of Kingsford Heights, passed away peacefully at 10:06 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2018 at VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was born March 14, 1933, in McLeansboro, IL, to John Edward and Helen (Cluck) Wheeler. Wilburn formerly worked as a maintenance personnel for Selected Meats, Kingsford Heights and for a meat processing shop in Fish Lake, Indiana. She passed away July 20, 2007. Also preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Katherine Caraway, Dottie Gandy and Roberta Boyer; and two brothers, Jimmy and Roy Dan Elder. Surviving are two children, Laura Wehrly of Kingsford Heights and Michael (Roxanne) Wheeler of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Gordon) Hendricks, Melissa, Robert ad Ryan Wehrly and Julie (Christopher) Merrill; and ten great grandchildren. A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, September 28, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Pastor Craig Forwalter officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
