Obituary for Ursula Johanna Sasse Ursula Johanna Sasse, 86, of Springville, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Born March 9, 1932 in Schapen, Germany; she was the loving wife of the late Otto Sasse for 37 years. She is survived by a daughter, Doris Bruzek (Ray) of Forest, VA; and two sons, George Sasse (Laurie) of Virginia Beach, VA; and Mark Sasse (Cheryl) of East Concord, NY; 6 grandchildren, Steph, Joe, Tom, Amanda, Josh, and Alex; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Arabella, and Gemma. Ursula is the daughter of the late Bernhard and Maria (Surmann) Vaal. She is the sister of the late Bernhard Vaal, Engelina Freckers, Ignatz Vaal, and Heinrich Vaal. Ursula is survived by a brother Hugo Vaal and sisters Thea Gans, Anni Goecke and Christa Nitsche. Otto and Ursula worked on their family dairy farm, Summit Land Farm, in East Concord, NY; from 1957 to 1978. She enjoyed flower gardening and volunteering at St. Aloysius Church as a Eucharistic Minister, Altar Rosary Society, and Bingo; she also volunteered at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital and Jennie B Richmond Nursing Home. Viewing will be held 12 Noon to 2 PM, Monday, September 24, 2018 at Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Springville, NY, followed by a prayer service at 2 PM and then prayers at St. Aloysius Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St. Aloysius Church at 10 AM. Memorials may be made to the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home, 222 N. Main St., Springville, NY 14141.
