Sylvia Jean Greathouse 2018

Sylvia Jean Greathouse , 70, of Washington, WV, left this world on September 4,2018, at Camden CLark Medical Center surrounded by her husband and children. She was born on October 19, 1947 in Ashland, KY, a daughter to the late John Willie and Sarah Jane Boggs Slone. She was a homemaker for 48 years. Her greatest accomplishments were being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; David Slone and Harold Slone, and three sisters; Mary Haynes, Deana Runyon, and Barbara Mills. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Malcolm Greathouse; sons Jeff Greathouse (Terri), and Heath Greathouse; daughter Melissa Burdette (MIke); brothers Linuel Slone (Sylvia), Phillip Slone (Billie Jean), Ralph Slone (Jane), and James Dewey Slone; sisters Dorothy Jones, Rosetta Jordan (John), Judi Cole, and her twin sister Sarah Jane Staats; grandchildren Haley Crandell, Courtney Greathouse, Zack Burdette, Tyler Burdette, Logan Ball, and Abbi Huggins; and great-granchildren Emrie Ray Burdette, and Wyatt Crandell. The family would like to extend thanks to the caregivers of CCMC Pulminary Rehab, and the staff of the Serenity and Advance Care Unit for their kindness and care shown to Sylvia. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 15th, at the Leavitt Family Center in Parkersburg, at 2pm, with food and fellowship to follow until 4pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
