OBITUARY Russell L. Murphy November 9, 1944 – September 26, 2018 Russell L. Murphy, 73, passed away on Wednesday September 26, 2018. Russ was born on November 9, 1944 in Louisville to the late James and Mildred Murphy. While enlisted in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam, he was a Bronze Star recipient. Russ was also a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and Parkland Baptist Church. Along with his parents; his son, Robert Lee Murphy, uncle, Floyd W. Tharp, Jr.; and his favorite dogs, Blitz, Murphy and Titus have preceded him in death. Here to carry on his memory are his wife of 40 years, Eileen O. Murphy; daughter, Megan E. Murphy; brother, James Carl Murphy (Louise), sisters in law, Kathleen Boersma (James), Mary Ann O’Leary Tubb (Darrell); brothers in-law, Patrick O’Leary and Michael O’Leary (Elwood Stroder); along with his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will take place from 2-8pm Sunday, September 30th at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. A service in honor of Russ will be held at 12pm on Monday, October 1st at the funeral home, with a private burial to take place in Resthaven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that expressions of sympathy be made to the Louisville Metro Animal Services.
