OBITUARY Robert T. Hayes Sr. December 4, 1935 – September 25, 2018 Robert Thomas Hayes, Sr., age 82, of Birmingham, passed away on September 25, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joycelyn Lower Hayes; son, Brian Wayne Hayes; parents, Edward Frank Hayes and Marie E. Floyd; sister, Ruth E. Huey and brother, Edward Hayes. He is survived by his son, Robert Thomas Hayes, Jr. ( Wendy ) ; daughters, Roberta Hayes Berry (Paul) and Patricia Hayes Krout (Todd) ; granddaughters, Rachel Ramos and Joy Krout; grandsons, Alex Hayes , Andrew Hayes , Josh Krout, Drew Hayes and Curt Hayes and numerous great grandchildren , nieces , nephews and other relatives. Robert served in the United States Army from 1960- 1964. Robert was a hardworking, determined, passionate, intelligent, detail oriented, artistic, handy, adventurous traveler, loving compassionate, caring, humorous, charming, and loyal man. He was also hospitable, a family man, independent, optimistic, honest, very generous, and a warm hearted man. He loved his dogs. The majority of his career was as owner of Alabama Tennis Inc., a tennis court construction company. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather who was strong in faith and continued to encourage those around him. He will be deeply missed. Family will receive friends Friday September 28, 2018 from 1:30 – 2:30 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 at Elmwood Cemetery.
