OBITUARY Robert Edward Sheffield November 25, 1950 – July 10, 2018 ROBERT (BOB) EDWARD SHEFFIELD Robert Edward Sheffield, age 67, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on July 10, 2018. Bob was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts on November 25, 1950 to Helen and Edward Sheffield. His memories will forever be cherished by his beloved wife and best friend of 33 years, Barbara Kahn Sheffield. Shortly after moving to Houston in 1983, he met Barbara at an organization for “Tall Texans”. They married in 1985, and he has adored her since that day. Bob lived life well and enjoyed many friends. He and Barb were lucky to have visited all seven continents, with adventures in China, Russia, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Antarctica, and Africa. He loved going and doing, being with friends, volunteering for others, having fun, and especially spending time with his sweetheart, Barb. Bob received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. Additionally, he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware. For over thirty years, he worked in a progressive series of Project Engineering positions in the Process Control Department of a major oil company. After retiring, he worked as a Consultant for several years. He was an accomplished and well-respected engineer. Bob was a passionate Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. A true highlight of his life was attending the 2017 Super Bowl in which the Patriots came from behind for the best game ever! He was also known for his community activities, including serving on the Board of the Sugar Mill Community Association, providing free tax services to the elderly and low income through a program with AARP and the IRS, and participating in Sugar Land politics. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kahn Sheffield, his sister and brother-in-law, Marti and Andy Michaud, his niece, Christine Michaud and her family, his nephew, David Michaud and his family, all of Barb’s cousins, his many long-time friends, and his cherished pet, Fenway. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen Sheffield, his brother- in-law, Robert Kahn, and his in-laws, Edith and Hugo Kahn. At Bob’s request, there will be no funeral service. However, a party to celebrate his life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
