It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Nitz, 67, of Naples, Florida and Atlanta, Michigan, died September 25, 2018 at Hiland Cottage Hospice in Petoskey. Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of George and Elizabeth (Lentz) Nitz. He grew up in Madison Heights and attended college at Ferris State. Bob was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. On September 13, 1981, he married Carol Lubowicki in Leonard, Michigan. Bob worked for McKesson Corporation selling medical supplies and retired in 2013 after 32 years. Golf was a priority in retirement. Bob was an avid fisherman and collector of fishing memorabilia. Most importantly, Bob was a friend of Bill W. and had 38 years of sobriety. Bob would never turn away a chance to listen and help a person in need. He was very humble when no one was watching. He had a knack for letting people know in his own little ways just how special they were to him. Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Rob (Rachael); granddaughter, Maddie; brother, David; nieces and nephews, Christopher, Steven, Lauren, Jennifer, Valerie, Ryan, Carrie and Margo; God children, Reece and Katie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim. The Nitz family would suggest memorial donations in Bob’s memory to Alcoholic’s Anonymous and the Father Fred Foundation. Private services will be held in Traverse City and Detroit at a later date. A tree will be planted in his memory at his beloved cabin.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Bob Timothy Nitz 1951 2018 (age 67).
