Robert “Bob” A. McChesney, 90, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 in his home. He was born in East Brady on November 7, 1927 to parents John L. and Buelah B. (Smith) McChesney. Robert proudly served his country during WWII in the 20th Army Air Force as a Private First Class in the 30th Bomb Squad. While in the Army, he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal. He married Eleanor M. Phillips on September 30, 1950 and they shared a wonderful life together. She preceded him… Read More » in death in 2009. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad in Corry, PA, where he worked as a car inspector for more than 20 years. He then worked as a painter for Wilson & Hampton Construction in California. In his spare time, he enjoyed bee keeping, gardening, and woodworking. He also loved his dogs. He was also a member at the Victory Heights United Brethren Church. Robert is survived by his brother, Eugene McChesney of Oil City; his two sisters, Lorraine Grandelis and Shirley Pierson, both of Franklin; numerous nieces and nephews, especially Carolyn Davis and Bonnie Deeter; and several great-nieces, especially Darla Uhl. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Henry McChesney; and his four sisters, Aletha Snow, Hazel Snow, Ethel Deeter, and an infant sister. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Roger Overmeyer, retired pastor, officiating. Interment will be held at Rockland Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Robert’s name to the Venango County Humane Society, P.O.
