Rick J. Tipton, 52, of Connersville passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday afternoon, September 28, 2018, at University Hospital, Indianapolis. One of six children of Bob and Jeanne Wilson Tipton, Rick was born on February 1, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio. Rick moved to Connersville as a child with his family and attended Union County High School. He also attended Heavy Equipment School in Wisconsin. On December 18, 2017, Rick married his long-time companion, Barbara Marcum Rainbolt, formerly of Clayton, Indiana. Mrs. Tipton survives. Rick was employed at Residential CRF for 20 years and was an over the road truck driver with Old Dominion for ten years. Rick enjoyed spending time fishing, camping, bowling, and playing softball. He also adored his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. Rick was a giving man and enjoyed his involvement with the Special Olympics. He also was great at starting projects that he never finished, earning him the nickname, “Halfway Project Man.” Besides his wife, Barbara Tipton, survivors include his mother, Jeanne Hess and her husband, Tom of Arkansas; two daughters, Brittney Tipton and wife, Dana of Richmond, Indiana and Brooklyn Austin and husband, Lee of Connersville; a son, Codey Tipton and girlfriend, Tierra of Alabama; two step-daughters , Hope Schmidt and husband, Robert and Angela Frye and boyfriend, Matt Showalter, all of Connersville; a step-son, Chad Marcum of Connersville; eleven grandchildren; five brothers, Jimmie Tipton and wife, Christy of Australia, Bobbie Tipton and wife, Carol of Minster, Ohio, Ronnie Tipton and girlfriend, Patty of Dayton, Ohio, Jerry Tipton and girlfriend, Terra of Connersville, and Joel Hess and girlfriend, Dana of Sheridan, Arkansas. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Bob Tipton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend George Nester will officiate. Burial will follow in Springersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at the funeral home.
