Richard Lee “Dick” Bakos age 81 of Bannister, MI, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Sparrow Carson Hospital, Carson City, MI. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI Richard was born in Elba Township, MI on August 30, 1937, the son of Martin and Margaret (Croftchik) Bakos. He was a graduate of Ashley High School with the class of 1955. Richard resided most of his life in Bannister. He was an avid baseball player and basketball player in his earlier years. Richard played on the Ashley Basketball Team that achieved Class D Runner Up Award for the State Title. He also enjoyed playing golf for many years. Richard worked at the Board of Water and Light in Lansing and later worked for many years at Miller’s Soft Water in Ovid. He was a member of St. Cyril Catholic Church in Bannister where he also maintained the grounds for a long time. Richard is survived by his son Randall and Sharon Bakos of Newaygo, MI; son Tim Bakos of Mecosta, MI; daughter Shelly Bakos of Mecosta, MI; son Brian Bakos of Mecosta, MI; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Junior Bakos. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ashley Care Center. Online condolences can be sent to www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
