Peggy Watkins, age 86, died at her home in Sapphire, N. C. on September 5, 2018. She was married to her late husband William Paul Watkins, Jr. for 60 years and is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Watkins Rice (William T. Rice, Jr.) granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Rice, and a son, William Paul Watkins, III (Marla Watkins) and their two sons, Chad and Shahide Mathis, and granddaughters Katlin and Krissy Connor. Her faith journey began at the historic Rock Presbyterian Church of Greenwood, SC, First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, SC and ended her faith journey in Highlands, NC at First Presbyterian Church where she was presented the Lifetime Pin Award. Peggy was an active member of Greenwood Country Club and The Gatewood Club. She also taught children at Saint Nicholas Speech and Hearing Center in Greenwood. She was a daughter of the late George Willard and Lillie Cockerill Scott of Greenwood. Peggy is also survived by a brother, Robert Scott, and one sister, Nancy Davis. She has been blessed with three loving, respectful, and professional nurses, Kim Hervey, Trish L’Heureux, and Eileen Anderson, who made it possible for her to live the last years of her life in the comfort of her home. There will be a family committal service in Greenwood Memorial Gardens at ll:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018. Rev. Emily Wilmarth of First Presbyterian Church of Highlands, NC will officiate.
