Patricia L. Gillis (Pat), 86, wife of the late Russell Gillis, passed away peacefully September 7, 2018 with family by her side after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for the past ten years. Born in Brockton, MA she was the daughter of the late John and Mabel DeCosta. Pat grew up in Brockton where she attended public school. She lived in Brockton for most of her life and later resided in Wareham, MA. She then moved to Middleboro to live at the wonderful Hannah B.G. Shaw Home for the past 8 years. Her biggest joy in life was taking care of people, especially her family. Other hobbies of Pat’s included traveling, dancing, being involved in her church community, working with the elderly, reading, playing pranks, and making people laugh. She was an active member of The Community Covenant Church in East Bridgewater where she taught Sunday School and encouraged her granddaughter’s involvement in the Pilgrim Pines Youth Program, religious retreats, summer camps, and weekly Sunday sermons which they attended together. While residing in Wareham she joined The Emmanuel Church of Nazarene which provided a new and welcoming community for her to be a part of. Pat is survived by her children, Cheri Lindsey of Lindsey’s Restaurant in Wareham, and Billy Gold of Wareham. She is also survived by her granddaughter Debi Lindsey of Plymouth, The Gillis Family, numerous nieces and nephews, close cousins, wonderful friends and caregivers. She is predeceased by her daughter Deborah Shadrick and grandson Shon Shadrick. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the staff at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home for all that they have done over the past 8 years to make Pat’s experience one filled with love, dignity, laughter, and compassion. Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 12 Noon – 2:00 PM with a service to follow at 2:00 PM.
