OBITUARY O. “Red” B. Parris June 14, 1938 – September 17, 2018 O.B. “Red” Parris passed away on September 17, 2018 at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, Judy Parris. He was a state trooper thru the 60’s then he acquired a convenience store in 1971 and named it Reds Food Pantry. The business grew and anyone who stopped once3 came back again and again to get his sandwiches. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. Thru hard work he won numerous trips around the world. He was appointed to the government advisory board for Gulf Oil. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was elected to the city council as Police Commissioner. He served on The Cullman Jefferson Gas Board and Industrial Development Board. In his early years he drove race cars, designed and sewed golf bags for Burton Mfg. in Jasper. He was a gourmet cook and could make his own clothes. He developed a deep faith in God and in 2002 when given only 2 months to live, put that faith to the test and was quick to tell you during the next 16 years who the master of his life was. At his request, he will be cremated and his cremains will be taken to Tibee Island Georgia south of Savannah, his favorite place. Moss Service Funeral Home in in charge of the arrangements. There will be no service due to the request by Red. Anyone that would like to make a donation, please donate to the American Cancer Society of The American Heart Association. The family expresses the deepest appreciation of thanks to special friends Bobby and Rene’ Britton, Jeff and Julie Evans and to all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers who gave him the best of care.
