Obituary for Kenny King CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Kenny King, 68, entered the gates of heaven on Monday, September 17, 2018 at his home after a long courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born in Dante, Virginia; son of the late Claude A., Jr. and Joyce Norris King. He was a retired Postmaster, working for the postal service for thirty-three years. He graduated from Castlewood High School in 1968. He was a member of NorthStar Baptist Church in Bristol, Virginia. His pride and joy were his six grandchildren. He was very involved in their activities and didn’t want to miss a moment. Even while traveling to Charlottesville, Virginia and Houston, Texas for chemo treatments and doctors visits, he still made sure to be at every ballgame or event that he possibly could. He loved to play golf, watch the St. Louis Cardinals, and Virginia Tech Football. He is survived by his loving wife, Trish King; one daughter, Courtney Jessee and husband, Ben; two sons, Chad King and wife, Kelli and Chase King and wife, Jessica; one brother, Dennis King and wife, Judy; six grandchildren, Gage King, Griffin King, Barrett King, Callan King, Landry Jessee, and Alden Jessee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel and Marie Johnson; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral Services for Kenny King will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Dr. William E. Houck, Pastor officiating. Committal Services and Entombment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 in Valley View Mausoleum, Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Chad King, Chase King, Ben Jessee, Dennis King, Willie Morris, and Mike Ray. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NorthStar Baptist Church, 2455 King Mill Pike, Bristol, Virginia 24201.
