John M. “Michael” Lahare Age 77, of Zion, IL passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Columbia, St. Mary’s Hospital, Milwaukee, WI. Michael was born January 6, 1941 to Louis and Dorothy (nee Kelly) Lahare in New Orleans. His early life was spent in New Orleans and Golden Meadow Louisiana, where he graduated from Golden Meadow High School. Following High School he joined the U.S. Navy. On March 7, 1970 he was united in marriage to Judith Miller in Chicago, IL. Following their marriage… Read More » they resided in various states: including California, Florida, New Jersey and finished up at Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. He retired at Great Lakes Navel Base, after 22 years of serving our country. He retired as a B.M.1st Class. Michael was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Wadsworth, IL. He enjoyed doing crafts such as ceramics, wood working, model planes, boats and cars. In general he was a very handy man and could fix anything. He is survived by his wife Judy, children: Nancy, Danny and Timmy Lahare, grandchildren: Ellie, James and Colleen Lahare, 1 half brother, John (Jan) Pierce, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joseph and Louis Lahare. In Lieu of flowers, the family has suggested Memorials be made to the “Honor’s Flight Network” in John’s honor. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 1:30PM at the Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial, with full Military Honors, will be held on Thursday, September 20th at 3:00PM, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery.
