John E. Bennett, 85, Linton, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Eastgate Manor in Washington. John was born December 30, 1932, in Bicknell, the son of John Edgar and Laverne (Wheeler) Bennett. He married Joy Hooper. He was a loan officer and was a member of the Word of Life Church. He loved IU Basketball and was a family man. He served in the United States Air Force. John is survived by his wife, Joy Bennett of Linton; daughters, Marcy (Steve) Huff of Linton and Peggy (Steve) Vinsel of Madison, AL; four grandchildren; six great granchildren; sister, Virginia Delaney of Florence, AL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Bradley Bennett. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Pastor John Moreland officiating at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service. He will be laid to rest at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.fredrickandson.com.
