JoAnn K Kern Cook 2018

JoAnn K. Cook (91) of Mishawaka, passed away at 5:06 am on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Born on October 22, 1926, to Kenneth and Margaret (Stone) Kern of New Carlisle, IN who preceded her in death as did her brother, Kenneth Kern,Jr. of Tucson, AZ. On August 10, 1957 she married Robert F. Cook, who died on December 11, 1985. She is survived by two step-children, Gregory F. Cook (Krista) of Marion, IN and Linda A. Steinmetz of South Bend, a daughter-in-law, Sandra (Cook) Shoff (Edward Wasik) of Granger, two grand-daughters, Kirsten Cook Wilcox (David) of Mishawaka and Bethany Cook (Zoe Allen) of Chicago, IL, two great- grandchildren, Oliver and Eliza Allen cook. Also, surviving are four nieces, Linda Kern Mills, Nancy Cook, Rebecca (Cook) Doar (Tim Doar), Sally Cook (Tim Farley), and nephews, John Kern and Jeff Kern. Another nephew, Dennis Kern preceded her in death and 6 great nephews, one great niece, and one great-great niece. JoAnn and her husband were world travelers. She enjoyed handwork, was an avid reader and volunteered many hours to her community including 23 years at the Center for Hospice. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka and a former member of the PEO Sisterhood. At her request cremation has taken place, the family will receive friends on Tuesday October 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in Hahn Funeral Home 505 W8th Street Mishawaka. At her request a private memorial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Center for Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or the First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka 201 East Third Street, Mishawaka, IN. 46544.
