Pascoag, RI – Jessie Joann Becker, 87 went home to be with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, . Jessie was born in Waterloo, Iowa, February 12, 1931 to Roy and Olive Booth. She was the sixth of eleven children. She met her husband, the late Pastor Sherwood Becker, a minister of the gospel, when they were both attending Providence Bible Institute, later called Barrington College. She was a faithful pastor’s wife, expert homemaker, accomplished dressmaker, and the mother of five daughters. She loved to be outdoors hiking, camping or gardening and passed on this love to her daughters. While her husband labored for over fifty years, she ministered to him and her family alongside him before his death in 2009. Jessie was a faithful member of Grace Community Baptist Church since its founding in 1984. She played the piano for the congregational singing for a number of years. She is survived by her five daughters: Lois and her husband Jeff Stickler of Campbellsburg, KY; Bonnie and her husband Robert Tetrault of Putnam, CT; Carolyn and her husband David Richardson, of Mebane, NC; Peggy and her husband Barry Steele of Ashland, MS and Nancy Hicks of Mebane, NC. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. A debtor to mercy alone of covenant mercy I sing; Nor fear with thy righteousness on, my person and offering to bring. The terrors of law and of God with me can have nothing to do; My Savior’s obedience and blood hide all my transgressions from view. The work which his goodness began, the arm of his strength will complete; His promise is yea and amen, and never was forfeited yet. Things future, nor things that are now, nor all things below or above, Can make him his purpose forgo, or sever my soul from his love. My name from the palms of his hands eternity will not erase; Impressed on his heart it remains, in marks of indelible grace. Yes, I to the end shall endure, as sure as the earnest is given; More happy, but not more secure, the glorified spirits in heaven. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:30 am in Grace Community Baptist Church, 621 Woonasquatucket Ave., North Providence, RI 02911. Burial will be private. Please make donations in her name to the Grace Community Baptist Church Building Fund for Handicapped Access.
