Obituary for James “Jim” Martin Webb James Martin Webb of Clarkston (formerly Rockford), MI age 62, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, after a short but aggressive fight against cancer. Jim was diagnosed on July 13, 2018, with stage 4 lung cancer, of which followed treatments, and then complications resulting in organ failure. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence and mother Maxine. Born on March 11, 1956, in Grand Rapids, MI, Jim graduated from East Grand Rapids High School (‘74) and Ferris State University (’78), where he met and fell in love with a striking woman, Theresa Bugnell. They married September 8, 1979, raising 3 kids in Rockford, MI. He was the GM opening the 1913 Room in Grand Rapids, eventually working his way up to COO of Universal Restaurants. He then owned and operated The Bostwick Lake Inn in Rockford, MI for over 15 years. He most recently worked for Eurest on the east side of Michigan. Jim was a member and former board member of the Michigan Restaurant Association, served on the YMCA board for 3 years, and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation. He will be remembered for his ‘tough love’ management style, his incredible work ethic, and his big heart (tears included). Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years Theresa; his children; Kate (Joel) Disbro of Grand Haven, Emie (Lee) Badersnider of Rockford, and Tyler Webb of Grand Rapids; 4 grandchildren; Jensen, Felix, and Dexter Disbro, and Maeve Badersnider; and 4 siblings; Scott (Sue) of Gore, New Zealand, Judy of Ann Arbor, Brad (Sharon) of Grand Rapids, and Chris (Karen) of Burlington, Vermont; as well as many brother- and sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, his Port Sheldon friends; and his beloved dog Swifty. The family would like to thank the staff of St Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital for their relentless and comforting care of Jim, as well as the support of many good people at Eurest (Compass) and River City Food. There will be a time of visitation at the Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. A Praying of the Rosary will be read at 8:00 p.m. following visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Road NE, Grand Rapids, MI at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018, with Father Tom Page presiding. There will be one-hour visitation prior to services at church. If friends desire, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society in the name of Terminatin Cancer.
