Helmut George Schmitt, 80 died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at home. He was born in Plattlingm, Bavaria, Germany to his parents Rosa and Georg Schmitt. His expertise as a butcher and manager was unsurpassed by none. Helmut was a member of the Elks. In his spare time, he loved attending flea markets, car shows and traveling the world. Helmut was kind, caring and generous to a fault. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, dear grandfather, beloved brother, and loyal friend.… Read More » Helmut is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Katherine, his loving children Bobby (Kathy), Freddy (Karen), Eric, Ingrid Gillette (Major General Mark Gillette), and Christa Bruno (Daniel). His cherished grandchildren, Travis, Austin, Skyler, Nicole, Eric, Brianna, Cody, Alexander, Isabella and Vincent, sisters Ingrid Hofsass and Christa Mayer, brother Georg and several relatives and friends in Germany. Helmut was pre-deceased by his parents and daughter Linda Lee Dembiec. Viewing will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Route 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, (908) 526-7638 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 24, 2018, 10:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 60 Maple Avenue, Bradley Gardens, Bridgewater, NJ. Burial will be private. “FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS”
