Helen Remo Sovak 1930 2018

Obituary for Helen Remo (Sovak) Helen Sovak Remo, 88, daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Gayjo) Sovak passed away September 4, 2018 in Canon City. She was born on April 12, 1930 in Suffern, New York. Helen grew up in Sloatsburg, New York. She graduated from Sloatsburg Grammer School and Suffern High School. Helen went on to college and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Paterson, N.J. after a three year course where she received her R.N. She worked as a registered nurse in the states of both New York and New Jersey. In 1954 she married Charles P. Remo of Mahwah, New Jersey. In 1996 Helen and her husband made Canon City their retirement home where she was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church and volunteer at Loaves and Fishes Ministries along with her husband for 13 years. Helen is survived by five children, Charlene (Chris) Weber of South Hampton, PA, Charles (JoAnn) Remo Jr. of Cookeville, TN, Cheryl (Glenn) Troutt of Stuart FL, Peter John (Tonya) Remo of Durham NY, Mary Jo (Richard) Madison of Florence, CO; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters. Memorial Mass, 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, St. Michael Catholic Church, Reverend Jesse Perez as celebrant. Inurnment at Lakeside Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Michael Parish Hall.
