Gerald G. Dishaw “Jerry”, age 95 years, died Saturday, September 22, 2018. The son of the late Gerardus and Harriette (Sterling) Dishaw, Gerald was born on January 9, 1923 in Bay City. He graduated from Bay City Central High School Class of 1942. Gerald proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII. On May 11, 1946, he married Carmella J. Gerald was a member of All Saints Parish (St. James Church), life member of the… Read More » Elks B.P.O.E. #88, the National D.A.V., IBEW #692, the Eagles Aerie # 1010, and the Knights of Columbus Council #414 and was a former volunteer for Created for Caring, as well as the Santa House. Gerald retired as an Electrician from J & L Electric in 1985 after 35 years of service. Gerald was very artistic and enjoyed working with stained glass. He created a cross from the stained glass windows from the original St. James Church, which is viewed at All Saints Elementary School, 2nd floor north. Gerald was proud that he was able to paint an oil portrait of each of his grandchildren. Gerald is survived by his four children: James (Debbie) Dishaw of Alanson, David A. (Patricia) Dishaw of Freeland, Patrick (Susan) Dishaw of Saginaw Twp., Bridget Ann Accetta of Fenton, and Alger (Gail) Mockaitis and Valerie LeMaster both of whom are very close to the family. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife Carmella, Gerald was preceded in death by his son, Robert Dishaw, two brothers Virgil and Ronald Dishaw and sister Geraldine Meyer. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at All Saints Parish-St. James Church. The Celebrant will be Fr. Jose Cabrera with Military Honors following conducted by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Private interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish for the poor and needy. Visiting hours will be at the church only on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
