Obituary of Genevieve Ertelt GENEVIEVE T. ERTELT Latham- Genevieve T. Ertelt, 92 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Charles J. Ertelt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 11, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. Born August 3, 1926 in Ruby NY, Genevieve was the daughter of the late George F. and Jane (Stauble) Young Jr. She married Charles J. Ertelt and cherished a blessed union of 64 years prior to his passing on December 10, 2013. Genevieve was a dedicated homemaker. She tended to her family’s needs with love and always kept them the center of her life. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and was a 4-H leader from 1959-1968. Prior to her marriage, she graduated from Albany State Teachers’ College (later the University at Albany) with a Masters’ degree. She was active with the Alumni Associate, Class of 1947, publishing the class newsletter and organizing class reunions. Genevieve is survived by her loving children: Catherine Ertelt, Jeanne Sickler, Robert Ertelt (Mary), Paul Ertelt (Ellie), Richard James Ertelt (Kathy) and Michael Joseph Ertelt (Angela) ; 4 cherished grandchildren Erin Marie, David (Bee), Meghan (Joe) and Riley James, two great-grandchildren Cody and Caden. She is also survived by two nieces, a nephew and her sister Agnes M. Becker and sister-in-law Evelyn Young. She was predeceased by her brother Francis M. Young. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday September 13, 2018 from 5:00 –7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham Genevieve’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 14 at 1:00 p.m.at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Interment will take place next to her loving husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kingston.
