Hancock Fredrick L. Mathes, 65, a resident of the Quincy House in Hancock, passed away Wednesday morning, September 5, 2018, at home following a short illness. Fred was born on August 20, 1953, the son of the late Donald and Juanita (LaBelle) Mathes. He was raised in L’Anse and had then lived at the Quincy House in Hancock for the past 27 years. Fred was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his sisters; Linda (Howard Heckel) Perry of Chassell, Judy Sullivan of Alston, Betty (Tom) Bartus of Jenison, MI He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his family at the Quincy House. As requested by the family, no immediate services will be held and burial will take place at a later time in the Evergreen Cemetery in L’Anse.
