BENTON-Frederick N. Fish, 80, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 10, 2018, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, at the Bedside Manor in Oakland. He was born on January 20, 1938, in Benton, Maine, the son of the late Lawrence and Mildred (Spaulding) Fish. They began with 12 cows and when they retired from farming in 1996, they had over 600. When the children were young, the family enjoyed the camp life at Lovejoy Pond in Albion. Later on they enjoyed making memories at their lake house on Lake Winnecook in Burnham. Watching the races, fishing and boating were some of their favorite things to do together. Family was very important to Fred. He liked to camp at the fairs, take long rides and go out for ice cream. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to the Oxford, Loudon and Unity races. He loved his John Deere Tractors, his money and his black Trans Am. When he and Alberta retired, they enjoyed traveling together across the country. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Alberta Fish of Benton; daughters, Vanessa Wishart of Clinton and Stephanie Clark and husband Glen of Benton. He was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Liza Yvon and husband Pete of Clinton, Sarah Wishart-Rogers and husband Jake of Clinton, Daniel Wishart and wife Stacey of Clinton, Julie Salsbury and husband Bruce of Fairfield and Dustin Gerow and wife Katie of Benton; great grandchildren, Kloee, Riley, Christopher, Zebadiah, Rory, Bella, Anna, Isabelle, Trent, Wesley, Zachary, Mariah, Chandler and soon to be born, Colton; brothers, Laurence Fish Jr and wife Gailene and Allan Fish and wife Helen, all of Benton; brothers-in-law, Charles Proctor and companion Joyce of Burnham and Ralph Proctor and companion Margaret of Brooksville; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bedside Manor for their compassion and the wonderful care given to Fred. A celebration of Fred’s life and an ice cream social will be held from 1-3 p.m., with a time of remembrance at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014. .
