Obituary for Frederick Charles Curry Frederick Charles Curry, who would have turned 74 on September 15 2018 passed away on September 4 2018 at his home in Bloomington. The son of Charles G Curry and Patricia Curry, Fred was born in Peoria, Illinois but moved to Bloomington shortly thereafter, where he remained for the rest of his life. His father often said that Fred was the smartest and most creative of his three children, a sentiment with which both his brother and sister concur. However, at age seventeen Fred was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and battled the disease for the rest of his life. Fred was a prolific writer in his own journals. He enjoyed walking throughout Bloomington, especially in downtown and the courthouse square. He was a regular at the Runcible Spoon café. Fred had many acquaintances and friends in town with whom he would engage in conversations expressive of how his mind worked differently from most people’s. Fred was predeceased by both of his parents but is survived by his brother Clifford Curry and his wife Delight Stone, sister Phoebe Campbell and her husband Thomas Campbell, step mother Harriet Curry, four nieces and nephews as well as a great niece and nephew. His family also wishes to express their profound appreciation to Greg Clark of Center Point, Fred’s wise and compassionate mental health case worker of many years. Fred will be cremated, and a private family celebration of his life will be held in due course. You are invited to share a memory or leave an online condolence to the family at www.allencares.com.
