OBITUARY Fred A Shuck March 23, 1929 – September 25, 2018 Fred Andrew Shuck, 89, of Rockford, IL passed away Tuesday September 25, 2018. He was born March 23, 1929 in Sheridan, IL, the son of J. Edward and Zada (Rumney) Shuck. Fred served six years in the Illinois National Guard, including two years active duty during the Korean War, one of which was spent with the occupations forces in Germany. Fred married the love of his life, Doris J. Engelkens on November 24, 1950. He was a dairy farmer for 12 years, and then went on to work at Chrysler for 25 years. Fred loved woodworking, gardening and camping. He and Doris spent winters in Arizona until finally making it their permanent home for many years. Fred is loved and missed by his wife of 67 years, Doris; children, Linda (Anthony) Molitor, Randal (Mona) Shuck, Elaine Pittman, and Bradley (Mary) Shuck; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul Shuck and Joanna Clapper. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Helen Casson, C. Robert Shuck, Ralph Shuck, Raymond Shuck and Gertrude Wallis. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with Rev. Gretchen Hammeke officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
