Elta Fern Long, 76, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. Elta was born on January 2, 1942 to Bertie Pollock in Clarksville, Texas. At the age of seven Alonzo Cummings came into her life and from then on he was her loving Dad. She worked for Ethicon for 25 years and retired in 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Long in 1995, by her parents Bertie and Alonzo Cummings, by her siblings James Perkins. Jeanette Wheeler, and Eddie Perkins, and by her lifelong best friend Ruth Shepheard. Elta is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Dickey of San Angelo, Susan and Tom Cox of San Angelo, and Lynn and Jeff Duncan of San Angelo; one son and daughter-in-law Scott and Trixie Long of San Angelo; her six pack (grandchildren) and spouses, Justin and Stacie, Brandon and Kelly, Amy and Jasson, Chelsea and Ricky, Ashley and Kyle, Hollye and Matt, and her pride and joy (grandson), Jordan and bonus grandchildren, Kelsye and Tyler; 22 great-grandchildren; honorary son and daughter, Edward Shepheard and Vicki Lowry, that she loved as her own; Pranee Gomes, her hand picked sister. We would like to thank St. Gabriel’s Hospice for their loving care. A Visitation will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 18th from 5:00pm- 7:00pm. The Funeral Service is 11:00am, Wednesday, September 19th at the Harper Chapel with burial to follow at Belvedere Memorial Park in San Angelo.
