Daniel A. Podjan, 63 passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his home in South Bend, IN. He was born to Arthur and Rosalyn (Mucia) Podjan on October 25, 1954 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Daniel graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1972. He then earned an Associate’s degree for Occupational Therapy from Brown Mackey College in South Bend. Daniel then graduated from Michigan State Police Academy and served 25 years as a Michigan State Trooper. On October 1, 2010 in Niles, Michigan, Daniel married Carol S. Day, who survives. He is also survived by sons, Matthew Daniel (Kate) Podjan of Elkhart, IN and Andrew (Nina Caputo) Thomas of Addison, IL; step-daughter, Rebecca Simanton of Niles, MI; step-son, Matthew (Emily) Simanton of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Lilly, Judah, Zion Podjan and Hayden Simanton; sister, Marrianne (Richard) Willming of St. Joseph, MI; and brothers, Michael (Lora) Podjan of Holland, MI and Larry C. (Sonja) Podjan of Watervliet, MI. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Doreen Day of Niles, MI. Daniel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son who was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Summit Church, 1700 W River Rd., Niles, MI.
