Claire S. Satta, 75, a devoted wife, respected teacher, and loving Godmother, died on Monday September 17, 2018 at 8:45am at Woodbine Rehabilitation Center. Claire lived in the Hollin Meadows neighborhood in Alexandria for the past 38 years. Mrs. Satta was born in Elizabeth, NJ on February 12, 1943 and graduated with a Bachelor in English from Holy Family College in 1964. From 1980 until retirement in 2012, Claire was an English and Drama teacher for the Henry E. Lackey High School in Charles County, Maryland. Mrs. Satta was a dedicated Catholic. She was a devoted parishioner and supporter of St. Louis Catholic Church. She was a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister, an Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, a member of the St. Rose of Lima Guild, and the recording secretary for Christian Women in Action (CWIA). Claire was predeceased by her husband, Frank Satta in 2005, her father, Harold, in 1949, and her mother, Helen St. Clair, in 1951. She was adopted and loved by her Uncle and Aunt, Frank and Marie Fitzpatrick, who also predeceased her. Survivors include her cousin Lisa Panfile of Mendem, NJ; Godchildren Julia and Michael, and their parents Dr. Kenneth and Katharine S. Hrechka. Claire was a treasured friend to many as well as a dedicated and caring teacher who kept in touch with her students through the years. Claire’s message to all of us is, “No matter what, if you love someone, truly love someone…it never dies!” Visitation will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church on Friday, September 21st from 10:30 to 11:30 am. An Honor Guard will be provided by the Knights of Columbus Potomac Assembly #2204 Color Corps. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am. Interment in Quantico National Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Monastery of the Poor Clares, 2503 Stone Hedge Dr. Alexandria, VA 22306.
