Carol Louise Bird 1937 2018

Obituary of Carol Bird Carol Louise Bird (nee Maynard) of Beach Park, IL, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Carol was born to William and Muriel (Mintern) Maynard on June 19, 1937. Carol will be missed by Marlin, her husband of 62 years; daughters Kathy (Don) Alexander, Diane (Frank) Bunker and son Terry; grandchildren Daniel (fiancé Laura Nickolay) and Jackie Bereiter; brothers Loren and John (Margaret) Maynard; brother-in-law Everett Schleter. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William and Muriel (Mintern) Maynard; sister Janet (Maynard) Schleter and son-in-law Tim Bereiter. Carol loved to travel with her husband, family and dear friends Roselyn and Wiley Krapf. She especially enjoyed exploring the Caribbean, having visited more than 25 different islands. For her 60th birthday, Carol and Marlin spent 2 months in Australia and New Zealand. While at home, Carol loved to garden, creating a beautiful outdoor space around their Beach Park home, patio and pond. She was very involved in Marlin’s business, managing the finances and payroll for over 25 years. Carol loved to host and attend get togethers with her extended family. She will always be remembered for her love of all things blue. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. followed immediately by a memorial service at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road in Zion. Memorial donations may be made to Heifer International (fundraise.heifer.org/carolbird).
