Obituary for Audrey Burk (Butts) Burk, Audrey Marie of Chanhass- en, died at the age of 96 on May 06, 2018 with her family by her side. Preceded in death by Loving Husband of 67 years, William E. Burk, Parents Berta and Paige Butts, Uncles Sigurd and Oswald Strand, Grandparents Antonette and Sivert Strand. Survived by her children, Carolyn Leaf (Bob) of Deephaven, Lesley Dixon (Kent) of Chaska, and Jeffrey Burk of Delano; Grandchildren: Christopher Leaf (Lindsey) of Medina, Andrea McHugh (Justin) of Deephaven. Jennifer Iannazzo (Tony) of London, UK, and Katie Pope (Ty) of Minneapolis; Great Grandchildren: Kate and Megan McHugh, Sophia and Emily Iannazzo, Lucy and Nina Pope; Niece, Cheryl Evenson (Brian); Nephew, David Peterson, Grand Nieces: Lindsey Rodriguez (Brandon) and Kelly Vantatenhove (Kyle), Special “Friend”, Anna Opfer Nelson. Audrey graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis in 1940. She worked for a few years at Honeywell before marrying and beginning her family. She became an active community volunteer and “stay at home” Mom where she was a Girl Scout Leader for Troop #1000 in Excelsior for 10 years, leader for both daughters, active on the Minneapolis Girl Scout Council, Member of the Patient Advisory Council for the Seifert Clinic in Excelsior, a “Stephen’s Minister” at the Congregational Church of Excelsior. Head secretary at the Excelsior Elementary School for 20 years and, in retirement, worked part-time at the Doll Buggy for 20 years! She loved to travel especially to Hawaii and the Minnesota North Shore! One of her “hopes” in life was to live longer than her “Beloved” Grandmother Strand, who died at 82 years old…Well, Mom, you did it! And, you did it with CLASS!! Celebration of Life will be at The Congregational Church of Excelsior, 471 Third Street, Excelsior, Wednesday, June 27, 10 AM Visitation, 11 AM Service.
