Arthur Bud Segars 2018

Arthur “Bud” Segars, 94, of Shillington, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 9:52 pm in his residence. He is survived by his wife Angeline (Butto) Segars and was preceded in death by his first wife Myrtle M. (Bean) Segars, who passed away March 10, 2008. Born in Reading, Mr. Segars was the son of the late Herbert and Sophie (Stevens) Segars. He was Director of Maintenance for Reading Company for 32 years then Maintenance Controller for Conrail in Philadelphia for 6 years retiring in 1988. Mr. Segars served in the United States Army during World War II and landed on the beaches of Omaha on the second day. He received a purple ribbon and his greatest honor was meeting General Dwight D. Eisenhower as he was leaving for home following the war. Mr. Segars was preceded in death by his son Thomas A. Segars, August 23, 1994 and by 12 brothers and sisters. He is also survived by his little companion Nina. Mrs. Angeline Segars would like to extend her sincere gratitude to the Nurses and Aides at Heartland Hospice and the caregivers of Mr. Segars, DeDe; Kenny and Ms. G. Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11:00 am. Reverend Kerry L. Hicks will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home Tuesday 9:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Mr. Arthur Segars.
