Anita Torbert Steigerwald, 102, of Columbia, formerly of Louisville, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 2:08 A.M. at TJ Health/Columbia. She was born July 30, 1916, in Madison, Georgia, to the late John Harris and Willie Mae Tappan Torbert. She was married to Gerald Jeff Thurmond, who preceded her in death and later married George Roberts Steigerwald who preceded her in death in 1972. She was a member of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church and the Ruth Class. Survivors include: Two daughters – Nancy Thurmond Hays (Gene Hays) of Wilmington, NC, and Georgann Steigerwald Flowers (Jim Flowers) of Columbia Two grandchildren – Anita Jeane Hays Blye and Michael Roberts Flowers Five great-grandchildren – Erin Simone Blye, Benjamin Franklin Blye V, Harriet Maxine Blye, Alexander Woodruff Flowers, Cecilia Marie Flowers Graveside service – Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. EDT at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville with Rev. Adam Schnell officiating Visitation on Friday from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
