Obituary for Rose M. Rockenbach – Of Joliet, died at her home on Monday, August 13, 2018, after a three-year battle with dementia. Age 94 years. Rose is survived by her son, Ralph F. Rockenbach of Joliet, IL., her brother Dominec (Marjorie) Alberico of St. Peters, MO., her sister Eva Johnston of Las Vegas, NV. Nieces and nephews Linda Jaeger, Cynthia Alberico, Sue Reid, Diane Anastopoulos, Robert (Christine) and James (Vicky Lynn) Alberico. Her grandchildren Casandra Talaga, Heather Miller, Desiree Dosher and David Talaga, as well as many great grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Alberico and Regina (Conto) Alberico; Her husband Ralph T. Rockenbach(1974). Two Brothers, Matthew (Catherine), Fred (Victoria). Two daughters Jean Dosher and Sandra Bushue (Darold-deceased). A niece Paula (Anthony) DeAngelis and nephew Dennis (Mary Lou) Alberico. Rose was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Crest Hill. She worked during World War II at the Navy Yards in Rockdale, Woolworth’s soda fountain in Joliet, the Army Ammunition Plant in Elwood, in the kitchen of St. Joseph Medical Center and at miscellaneous other jobs. But most of all she will be remembered as a world class homemaker. Her acquaintances called her Rose, but to her nieces and nephews she was Auntie Rosie. A visit to Rosie’s was always filled with the anticipation of something good to eat. You might find her tending her garden of vegetables and herbs that were destined to make the difference between eating to live and living to eat. The aroma of Rosie’s baked cinnamon rolls could turn even the most mannerly person into a hungry beast. We were lucky dogs! Calories were meant to be eaten. Homemade pasta and her incomparable secret-recipe tomato sauce, fit for a king, were an everyday experience at Rosie’s table. Hospitality and culinary magic are her unforgettable legacy. Private services and burial at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet were held last week. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Rose M. Rockenbach please visit our Sympathy Store.
