Obituary for David Schintzius David Elmo Schintzius, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, in the comfort of his home. He was born on February 23, 1939, the son of Albert Schintzius and Ruth Francis (Nuwer) Schintzius. David graduated from Salesianum School in Delaware. He had a passion for and enjoyed civil war reenactment, building mini police cars, and custom leather work. He loved to open McDonalds as the first customer every morning for the past 15 or so years. He went every single morning for that cup of coffee. He and his wife were members of St. Philip Catholic Church, where he ushered for many years. David was a people person. He loved to talk to everyone around him about anything they wanted to talk about. David is survived by his Wife of 38 years – Mary Louise (Polak) Schintzius; two Daughters, Wendy (Fred) Toney and Christine Johnson; two Sons, David M. Schintzius and Anthony (Ashley Probol) Schintzius; Grandchildren, Briane (Keith) Crouse, Matthew Johnson, and Christopher Meserve; Great-Grandchildren, Grady and Gannon Crouse, and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a Grandson, Tanner Schintzius. Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Friday August 17, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary starting at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at the St. Philip Catholic Church, 112 Capital Ave., NE, on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 10:00 am with Father John Fleckenstein officiating. Interment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
