OBITUARY William Henry Bancroft Jr. July 5, 1930 – July 20, 2018 William Henry (Bill) Bancroft passed away on July 20, 2018, at the age of 88 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and faithfully served his community and church in many positions. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Bill attended Howard College and then did post-graduate work in physics at Auburn University and the University of Alabama. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and retired from the Navy Reserve as a Commander. He spent most of his career working in medical research with the VA and UAB hospitals. He is survived by his wife, Melinee Bradford Bancroft, his brother, Dr. Charles V. Bancroft (Betty), his three children, Steve H. Bancroft (Laura), Susan Bancroft Higgins (Lamar) and Beth Bancroft Price (Michael) along with his eight grandchildren, Bill Bancroft (Mallory), Ben Bancroft (Jil), David Bancroft (Christin), Jessica Lagle (Brandon), Lauri Lindsey (Josh), Amy Heathcoe (Chris), Emi K. Mason (Matt) and Melanie Ferguson (Stuart) as well as his 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL on Tuesday July 24, 2018 from 3:00pm to 5:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2018 at Forest Hill Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, Mrs. Bancroft asks that donations be made to Dothan Vineyard Church, P.O.
