William Bill B Mehl November 20 1932 July 28 2018 (age 85)

William B. Mehl, age 85 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully with his sister Carol by his side, on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Bill was a lifelong resident of Delaware, born on Wilmington’s East Side. He graduated from P.S. duPont High School in 1950 where he excelled in sports, particularly basketball. He owned and raced horses, enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with his wife, and worked in several vocations throughout his life, most recently retiring from his job with Dr. S. Gregory Smith as a patient driver and office worker. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved watching the Phillies and Sixers. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Kate, and daughters, Patti Lynn Mehl, Lisa Santa Cruz, and Kathleen Mashington. He is survived by his sister, Carol Baker (Ralph), brother Alan Toomey (Faye), son-in-law, Thomas Mashington, granddaughters Ashley Cooper (Adam) and Taylor Santa Cruz, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory can be sent to the American Heart Association.
