A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel in Chisholm. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Siyanda Elizabeth, Life-Cycle Celebrant, will officiate. He was born… Read More » August 15, 1937, in Virginia, MN, to Arthur W. and Vieno A. (Koivisto) Kutsi. Wes was a graduate of Alango High School and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He was united in marriage in 1962 to Connie J. Germ. He worked as a standard machinist for Erie and LTV Mining for 36 years. Wes was a loyal and active community member. He was a “life member” of the Mesabi Unitarian Universalist Church, first in Alango and then in Virginia. Through the years, he served as president, vice-president, and treasurer of the church. He was a member of the Finnish American Friends for 12 years and served as their president for six. He was also an active member of Palo Senior Citizens and the Northern Lights Senior Federation. He belonged to the Order of Moose in Hibbing, Grand Rapids, and Two Harbors. Wes was proud of his Finnish heritage, and was a member of the Knights of Kaleva since 2005 He is survived by his children, Kevin Kutsi (cat, Maddy) of Ely and Judy (Dennis) Koponen (dog, Aunna-Liisa) of Babbitt; fiancée, Carolyn “Cari” Nelson; and many special cousins. Wes was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; and his many special furry companions, most importantly, Molly Sue.
