Obituary for Virginia C. Benavidez Virginia Benavidez went home to be with her heavenly Father on July 20, 2018 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband Sergio Benavidez and son Fred Benavidez. She is survived by her children Patricia Closner and husband Pete, Graciella (Gracie) Avila and husband Gerry, her son Larry Benavidez, grandson Jonathan Closner-Benavidez, granddaughter Monica Mercado and husband Dr. Rafael Mercado, and great granddaughters Emma, Mia, and Marina. Virginia, GiGi to her family, loved watching her SPURS and COWBOYS. She worked hard every day to provide for and support her children and was known for her strength, courage, and unconditional love. Many years ago she read the words that Jesus spoke when He said: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live”. Virginia believed and now abides under the shadow of the Almighty. She will be greatly missed. The entire Benavidez family extends a special thank you to Dr. Radames Rodriguez and his staff as well as Kindred Hospice nurses Monica Markel, Vanessa Villanueva, Elisa Garza and Kindred staff members Diane Santos and Roxanne Cruz, also Norma Eby and Nora Jaimes for all their love, compassion, dedication, and care of their mother.
