Obituary of Tina Sutton-Epps Tina Sutton Epps was born June 7, 1967 in Windsor, NC to Joseph and Minnie Ruth Sutton. Tina attended Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Rescue Church of God and Christ. Tina and Carl were married on October 6, 1991. Tina worked for Woodbine Development Center for over 30 years. She was Second Vice President of the AFSCME. Tina was a steward for 20 plus years of local 2210. She was elected as a board member in 2005 of local 2210. In 2008, she was elected as 2nd Vice President of local 2210. She was appointed by President Lee Saunders of AFSCME International as Head Chairwoman of the AFSCME Woman’s Committee in New Jersey. Tina was also a member of the Coalition of Black Trade Unions (CBTU). She also worked on many presidential campaigns from President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama. Tina also worked on several US NJ Senator campaigns; 2001 Jon Corzine, 2006 Bob Menendez, and 2014 Cory Booker. Tina also worked for governor’s elections of Jim McGreevey in 2003, Richard Codey in 2004, Jon Corzine in 2006, and Phil Murphy in 2018. Tina was full of life and love. She always had a smile and loved a good laugh. She loved her family and friends. She is predeceased by her father, Joseph Sutton and her son, Carl Joshua Sutton-Epps. She leaves to mourn, her mother, Mrs. Minnie Ruth Sutton; husband, Carl Epps; two daughters, Imari of Leeds, UK and Infinity of Egg Harbor, NJ; one stepson, Christopher (Liz) of California; four sisters, Loretta Chamblee of Newport News, VA, Diane Shelton (Ricky) of Queens, NY, Deanna Sutton of Salsbury MD; and Carol Reese (John) of Richmond, VA.; four brothers, Elvis Heckstall of Delaware, Darryl McAddley, of Frederick, MD, Jonathan of NY, and James “Coolie” Swain of Windsor NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. Funeral Services will be 11AM, Friday, July 13, 2018, Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road, Pleasantville, NJ, where friends may call from 10AM.
