Obituary for Steven “Steve” Smith Steven Daniel Smith, 72, of Hastings, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born August 22, 1945 in Battle Creek, the son of Norman and Katherine (Tabiadon) Smith. Steve served in the US Navy traveling to Japan and the Philippines. He worked for the Carpenter’s Union Local #525 for 50 plus years before his retirement. Steve was a longtime member of the Bedford Lion’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Steve was a master carpenter and took pride in what he built. His greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family. Steve had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. He is survived by his children, Stephanie (Daniel) Hicks, Chad (Maranda) Smith, Cristina Morris, and Donna (Bryan) Pruitt; grandchildren, Joshua, Kaylee, Conor, Cohen, Caden, Marlee, and Mitchell; great grandson, Liam; sister, Diana (Fred) Whitmire; nieces, Megan (Mike) Oldfield and Tammy Price; nephews, Freddie (Sara) Whitmire, Jr. and William Kerr, Jr.; sister-in-law, Fay Wickens and a dear aunt, Rose Tabiadon. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ada “Betty” Bundy; brother, Robert Smith; and sister, Arlene Kerr. A committal service with military honors will be held Friday, July 27th at 1:00 PM at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
