Obituary of Stephen Simpson Stephen “Steve” Crawford Simpson, passed peacefully on July 17, 2018 surrounded by family, after a courageous 13 year battle with cancer. Born on August 19, 1951 in Santa Monica, California. Son to the late Eleanor Simpson and Otis Simpson. He graduated from UC Berkeley. Steve was the loving husband of Shawndra Simpson. He is survived by his stepmother, Dolores Simpson; sons, Stephen (Lauren) Simpson, Michael Simpson, and Karl Nimtz; daughter, Britney Duane; sisters, Sue (Dick) McCallum and Jill (Bob) Raney; grandchildren, Mia and Preston Simpson; nieces, Jamie (Bill) Price, Morgan Price, Katie Raney, and Kelly Raney. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Abby, Dually, and Coco. Steve loved spending time with his family, maintaining his yard, and skiing in Tahoe. As an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants he never missed a trip to Arizona for Spring Training. Some of his favorite times were traveling to Hawaii, Arizona, and Catalina. Friends and family can pay their respects at the celebration of Steve’s life on Tuesday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa. Following the service, the family would like to invite you to celebrate Steve’s life at their home. The Simpson family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful oncology staff at UC Med Center in San Francisco.
