Obituary for Shirley Moore Shirley Matthews Moore, 83, wife of Paul L. Moore, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 at her home. Born June 27, 1935, in Olanta, she was a daughter of the late John Matthews and the late Leola Welch Matthews. Mrs. Moore was a member of First Baptist Church Sumter. She retired from NBSC after 20 years of service. Survivors besides her husband include three daughters, Terry Baker (Robbie) of Sumter, Pam Scheller (Ken) of Cayce, and Missy Carnelli (Scott) of Sumter; four grandchildren, Leslie Ann Ruff (Woody), Will Baker (Sanford Dinkins), Kendal Scheller, and Clayton Scheller; six great grandchildren, Anniston, Charleston, Hamilton, Johnston, Ellis, and Calloway Ruff; three sisters, Claudette Stokes of Florence, Carolyn Gibbs (Larry) of Abingdon, VA, and Johnette Coker of Myrtle Beach; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Sumter with the Rev. Dr. Dan Barber and the Rev. Dr. Bob Calvert officiating. Private burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clayton Scheller, Will Baker, Laurie Brown, Bill Stokes, Bill Matthews, and Eddie Frenz. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 107 E. Liberty St., Sumter, SC 29150.
