OBITUARY Shirley Kay Stuyvesant October 22, 1945 – July 10, 2018 Shirley Kay Stuyvesant, 72, of Cary, NC, formerly of Grandville, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Cary, NC. Shirl was born October 22, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Peter and Theresa (Piersma) Kingman. After graduating from Grand Rapids Christian High School, she married Jerry, who remained the love of her life for nearly 54 years. Shirl always focused on her family and friends. She could do anything she set her mind to do, whether it was running her own business or learning new technologies and skills. She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Nellie Kingman; sister, Donna Westrate; and granddaughter, Courtney Stuyvesant Valenzuela. Shirl is survived by her husband of more than 53 years, Gerald Karl Stuyvesant; brother, Albert Kingman (Marcia); daughter, Cindy Stuyvesant Paleologos (George); sons, Gregory Scott Stuyvesant (Michelle), Todd Karl Stuyvesant (Jennifer); grandchildren, Jarod Stuyvesant (Robin), Stella Paleologos, Owen Stuyvesant, and Ella Stuyvesant; great granddaughter, Annaleigh Valenzuela. A funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Matthysse Kuiper Degraaf Funeral Home Chapel, 4145 Chicago Drive SW, Grandville, MI 49418. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Monday, July 16, 2018 at the funeral home, as well as 10-10:45am prior to the service. Memorials may be made to The ALS Association North Carolina Chapter, 4 N.
