Obituary for Ruth W. (Moody) Rivard Ruth W. (Moody) Rivard, 90, of New Bedford, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the Sacred Heart Home, in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Everett Rivard. Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Frank J. and Millicent (Maxfield) Moody, she grew up in Edgartown and lived in New Bedford most of her life. She had been a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Ruth was a legal secretary and had worked for several law offices until her retirement from the office of Faulk and Bor. She was a former member of the Order of Rainbow Girls and Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth was a fantastic Scrabble player, she enjoyed watching and rooting for the Red Sox and loved the ocean. She is survived by a son, Dennis Rivard and his wife Shirley of White River Junction, VT; two daughters, Katherine Lapre and Diane McCarthy both of New Bedford; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 30, 2018, at 10:00am, in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St., Dartmouth, MA 02748. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Discretionary Fund.
