Obituary for Ruth Nacoa McAdams Henderson Mrs. Ruth Nacoa McAdams Henderson, age 100, departed this life Monday, July 9, 2018 at Cumberland Manor Nursing Center in Nashville, TN. She was born on October 2, 1917 to Mr. Henry McAdams and Mrs. Elva McKinney McAdams in Cherokee County, Andrews, NC. The family later moved to Johnson City, TN where she attended Langston High School, elementary through high school. As a devoted and dedicated member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, she worked tirelessly and served as President of the Usher Board, Secretary of the church BMCR, Secretary of the Rebecca club and was a Program chair for the AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest U. Henderson; daughter, Donella Coffey Henderson and son, Richard L. Henderson. Survivors include son, Forrest Terry Henderson; three grandsons, David Coffey of Grand Rapids, MI; Kareem Henderson and Michael Henderson, both of Nashville, TN; one granddaughter, Kimberly Coffey of Bristol, TN; honorary granddaughter, Michelle Craighead of Nashville, TN; three great-grandchildren, Autumn Henderson of Nashville, TN; Christiana Coffey of New Jersey and Jiya Coffey of Grand Rapids, MI. Also, a host of relatives and visiting friends including Berthana Oxendine of Johnson City, TN; Sharon Bowman of Buffalo, NY; AL and Metral Smith of Hendersonville, TN; Craig Daniels of Newport News, VA; Rhonda Blackman, Barbara Vaughn, Ms. Pinky McQuiddy and Rev. Don Tassiah, all of Nashville, TN. Special thanks to John Wesley Church secretary, Mrs. Theresa Taylor for all the help she gave in putting the program together. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, July 19, 2018 at John Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Kincaid, Rev. Barbara Doyle and Dr. W.A. Johnson officiating. The Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kareem Henderson, Michael Henderson and David Coffey. The family will receive friends from 12, Noon till 1:00 P.M., prior to the service at the church.
