There will be a private Honor Guard service held at Greenhaven Cemetery for Roy F. Hill Jr., 90, who passed away peacefully on Friday, July 20th in Oviedo, Florida. Roy was born on December 23, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to Roy Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Hill. During the Korean War, Roy proudly served his country in the Navy, Coast Guard and Army. In 1960, Roy moved to Youngstown, where he was an estimator for Fowler Construction and Mike Coates Construction. Roy was a dedicated member of Poland United Methodist Church and an avid roller skater. He was a member of the USAP and Ohio Coaches Association and gave professional skating lessons for 50 years at multiple skating rinks in the Youngstown area, including Skate Connection and Youngstown Skate. On December 25, 1954, Christmas Day, Roy married the late Sarah E. Hill. She passed away in 2004. Roy will be forever missed by his two children: Richard (Sheila) Hill of Austintown and Susan (John) Bresnahan of Oviedo, Florida, and his grandchildren Anthony Hill and Sarah and John R. Bresnahan. Besides his parents and his wife, Sarah, Roy was preceded in death by his two brothers, Richard and Robert Hill.
